"You find the mail, Mommy?"
"You eating the pasta?
"Tasha's crying?"
"You see Daddy?"
 
These are a few examples of what we hear everyday. You learn to acknowledge him quickly or else the question/statement is repeated at increasing volume. They're questions because of the way he chooses to intonate. But really, they're statements because he's not expecting anything more than an acknowledgement that he's letting you know something. Translation, please

Frequently, Alex will engage us in conversation. 72.6% of the time, I don't know what he's specifically saying, although I can glean the general idea from hand gestures or words I know. He seems to get most insistent when we don't follow his train of thought and he's SO sure you should know what he's asking for or trying to tell you. Yesterday he was asking for a ranch dressing packet that was inside the original box. But neither Jeff nor I could figure out WHAT he was trying to communicate. ...
